College Transfer Admissions

FACT: Over one-third of students transfer colleges at some point before earning their degree.

Students have many different reasons for wanting to change schools.  Transferring schools may not be as uncommon as you think; depending on the school, transfer students can account for anywhere from 15-40% of all newly enrolled undergraduates.

  • Students may seek to transfer because they are unhappy with their social situation. They may feel socially isolated at their current school.

  • Sometimes a school that seemed ‘ideal’ during the application process and orientation just does not, in actuality, provide the right environment.

  • Students often consider transferring because of poor academic performance: new classes and new professors, new start.

  • Some students enter college with a plan to elevate their GPA for one or two years before applying to transfer to a more prestigious school.

  • Sometimes an event occurs at the first school that necessitates a change - we handle that.

  • Sometimes it’s for sports, a newly desired major, or finances.

  • Most recently, COVID has inspired increases in both Gap and Transfer admissions.
